To think, there used\u00a0to be a day when companies made a conscious decision\u00a0as to whether they wanted to be an emboldened technology leader\u00a0or take a more passive \u201cwait and see\u201d\u00a0approach.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n And there was validity to\u00a0both mindsets.\u00a0The first\u00a0meant taking on\u00a0sometimes significant\u00a0risk\u00a0but with a huge upside, the latter\u00a0meant\u00a0having access to the learnings,\u00a0the\u00a0successes,\u00a0and\u00a0failures of those that came before you.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n If we have learned nothing else from the last 18 months, those days\u00a0of choice\u00a0are gone:\u00a0embracing\u00a0technological\u00a0innovation\u00a0is no\u00a0longer an\u00a0option.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n To be competitive in the race, companies have no choice other than to strive to\u00a0embrace technology advances and translate\u00a0them\u00a0into competitive advantage within their\u00a0industries.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n 5G\u00a0will be a tectonic shift,\u00a0and while most companies have the advantage that\u00a05G\u00a0is not right on top of them at this moment, when it does\u00a0come,\u00a0it will be fast and furious.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Which\u00a0presents an interesting dilemma for the modern enterprise \u2013\u00a0do they\u00a0get on board early while there is still uncertainty around the timing\u00a0of\u00a0critical mass adoption\u00a0(i.e., the point at which it will be integral\u00a0to their business\u2026\u00a0or to their customers)\u00a0or do they wait and see what it will mean for the business how they can best factor\u00a05G into their business and consumer applications?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Cigniti\u2019s\u00a0recent webinar\u00a0\u201c<\/span>Staying Ahead of Your Customer Experience in the Age of 5G<\/span><\/a>\u201d just scratched the surface\u00a0of these critical decision points \u2013 along with many others \u2013 that\u00a0brought to light the many dimensions and considerations companies are going to face when\u00a0(and\u00a0I say when, not \u201cif\u201d) they define their strategy and approach for 5G.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n It was apparent after this roundtable discussion, that\u00a0it would be prudent for every organization to at least dip their toe in the water and start to think about\u00a05G and what it means to them\u00a0–\u00a0and if nothing else, start the dialog because more is going to change than just the ability to leverage high bandwidth, low latency networks.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n To further support this, I wanted to share some\u00a0very\u00a0intriguing talking points from this webinar:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n In this blog series,\u00a0we will cover a succession of topics around 5G with\u00a0a\u00a0specific focus on what it will mean for the customer experience and how the current\u00a0techniques and processes of assuring that customer experience are going to\u00a0change, in some cases drastically.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The upcoming series of 3 blogs would cover the following topics.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Our\u00a0intent is to bring to light many of the considerations that need to be factored\u00a0in\u00a0when considering your 5G strategy.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Yes,\u00a0your current app is most likely going to work just fine\u00a0on 5G \u2013 most \u201cover the top\u201d 4G\/LTE applications\u00a0will.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n But as always, there are some that\u00a0will either not work or will not work as intended.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The more important consideration is,\u00a0however, back to the theme of this blog: the leaders and the leapers are going to get ahead of the game\u00a0by dipping their toes\u00a0in the water early, evaluating\u00a0the potential of\u00a05G\u00a0for\u00a0their organization \u2013 everything from how it is architected, to how it is developed and tested, to how it is monitored\u00a0when it is deployed\u00a0en\u00a0masse in the hands of the end user\u00a0\u2013 we will begin to devise a strategy that evolves them to\u00a05G.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Others will wait, and wait, and wait\u2026until they are behind the eight ball. (If this sounds familiar,\u00a0you can think back to any seismic technology advancements over the last 30 years (the internet, the\u00a0iPhone, cloud, etc.) and how many organizations\u00a0either intentionally \u2013 through conscious decision \u2013 or unintentionally \u2013 through lack of action,\u00a0totally missed the early adopter opportunities and have been trying to catch up ever since.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n We look forward to you joining us for this blog series, and hope we can engage\u00a0you in\u00a0provocative thought, maybe, just maybe,\u00a0serve as a beacon of sorts to incite\u00a0early action in the planning for 5G!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Customer expectations and demand for new digital services are already increasing at a rapid pace. With the\u00a0<\/span>adoption of 5G<\/span><\/a>, these expectations are only going to be magnified further. In response as companies start to adopt 5G as part of their digital delivery backbone, they are going to be challenged in optimizing for the plethora of possibilities that 5G has to offer. So whether it be enhanced video, telehealth, adaptive manufacturing, AR\/VR, gaming, consumer IoT services, connected vehicles, to name just a few, the pivot to the 5G paradigm will be significant as will the manner in which these new solutions are rolled out.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n
